Getting Phynx Fiber Installed

You and your neighbors all voted for your fiberhood and have been officially moved to the sign-up phase… but, now what?

We understand you’re probably wondering what happens between signing-up for service, actually having fiber Internet installed in your home and how long this process will take. So, let us help settle your curiosity!

From Sign-Up to Service: Getting Phynx Fiber Installed

Signing-up for service with Phynx Fiber

When you go to sign-up for service with Phynx Fiber Internet, you’ll be able to choose the right plan for your home and select any additional services you’d like to include. We like to personally canvas the community for the opportunity to meet our future customers face-to-face, so feel free to ask us any questions you might have when we knock on your door!.

We require a minimum number of residents within each fiberhood to sign-up for service before we can begin construction. If your neighbors don’t already have fiber, then the timeline can be more variable as we do not know how long it will take to meet our minimum requirement of sign-ups – although we hope it’s quick! As expected, more densely populated fiberhoods tend to take longer because we have a higher minimum, whereas less densely populated fiberhoods tend to take less time. We may even opt to divide a fiberhood into smaller sections to help expedite the process. In the meantime, we’ll continue to heavily market the area to quickly get your fiberhood to the construction phase.

While you could deliver a plate of homemade snickerdoodles to your neighbor several houses down with a note reading, “Be a smart cookie and sign up for Phynx Fiber”, we have created a resource on our website with content available for you to share on social media to help promote Phynx Fiber locally.

Fiber Internet construction

Once the minimum number of sign-ups has been met, our technicians begin construction to connect you to our primary service line, so we’re able to route fiber to your area quickly. Fortunately, we have the capacity to build several fiberhoods simultaneously, but splicing to each home takes time. There are a lot factors to consider when building to a new fiberhood, such as the location within the town and our always fluctuating Missouri weather.

Fiber installation

This is definitely everyone’s favorite part of the process! Once fiber has been laid in the fiberhood, we will call you to schedule a time for a service technician to run fiber into your home. Once complete, it’s as simple as flipping a switch to turn on your service!

What’s the full timeline from sign-up to service?

If everyone were to sign-up for service as soon as they could, we could build fiber throughout your town in 18 months. We have seen some fiberhoods turnover more quickly than others, while others have taken nearly three months to move to construction. Once in the construction phase, we estimate an additional 45-60 days (on average) for residents to get fiber installed in their home.

Rest assured, once you have fiber your Internet browsing experience is going to be faster than ever! One satisfied customer who recently had Phynx Fiber service installed in their home told us,

“Everything’s great! Tested at 102 down and 100 up last night, and the router works great.”

However, the message came through so quickly we almost missed it! Thankfully, we’re constantly chugging espresso while streaming episodes of The Good Place, so we’re able to keep up with our own service speeds.
